When you see the sea rough and the waves appear split in two like in the photo, do NOT swim! š«ā ļø
š This is caused by rip currents (often just called "the current").

If the current pulls you out to sea, getting back to shore will be extremely difficult.
š” THE SOLUTION - HOW TO ESCAPE A RIP CURRENT
1. š« DON'T Fight the Current Directly
Never try to swim straight back to shore - you'll exhaust yourself!

2. āļø Swim Parallel to the Shore
Swim sideways along the beach until you escape the current's pull

3. āļø Swim Diagonally to Shore
Once free from the current, swim at an angle back to the beach
4. š If You Can't Swim
Float on your back and wave for help - conserve your energy!
